Belief Statement...

what we believe.

The Word of God
We believe the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments together, was written by the inspiration of God through the hands of men and is without error in the original languages and manuscripts. It is unchanging and relevant in all cultures and throughout all ages. It is our authoritative source of revealed truth that guides our faith and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21

The Trinity
We believe the Lord our God is one God, eternally existing in three persons--the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The triune God has existed in relationship from the beginning of time, and while each member shares the same divine nature, each fulfills distinct roles.
Genesis 1:1-2; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 48:12,16; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

God the Father
We believe the one true God has revealed himself as the eternally self-existent "I AM," the creator of heaven and earth and the redeemer of all mankind. He is the God of the Old Testament and the New Testament—unchanging, all-powerful, perfect in holiness, wisdom, and love. He is both merciful and just.
Exodus 3:14-15, 34:6-7; Psalm 90:2,11; Isaiah 46:9-10; Malachi 3:6; Luke 3:22

Jesus Christ the Son
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who is holy and worthy of our worship. He was with God in the beginning and will rule with God eternally—the Alpha and the Omega. He humbled himself by coming to Earth as both fully-God and fully-man, died as a sacrifice for our sins, rose to life, and ascended into heaven where He now sits in power at the right hand of God the Father. He will come back to reign as king over all the nations and all the earth will be his possession. Through His death and resurrection, He is the only mediator between God and men as He gave his perfect life on the cross to remove our sins.
Psalm 2:6-8; Psalm 110; John 1:1-14, 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Ephesians 1:15-23; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Revelation 1:8,17-18

The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit (often called the Spirit of the Lord in the Old Testament) is the third person of the one true God: coeternal, coequal, sent forth from the Father and the Son, and fully divine. He is Himself fully God, worthy of worship and glory together with the Father and the Son forever. He is not merely an impersonal force but is a person who speaks, wills, loves, and can be grieved. When we become believers, the Holy Spirit becomes our guarantee of the full inheritance of redemption and future life with God in heaven. He communes with the spirit of every Christian by guiding, comforting, and giving power for daily life and ministry. He reveals to the spiritual person the deep things of God.
Genesis 1:2; Matthew 12:32; Romans 8:9-11; John 14:16-17, 26; 1 Corinthians 2:10-12; Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30

Sin & Separation from God
We believe that God said, “Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness,” and so man was created good and upright; however, man chose to sin against God. Sin creates a separation between God and man and ensures not only physical death, but also spiritual death for each and every person.
Genesis 1:26-27, 2:16-17, 3:6; Romans 5:12-14

Salvation Through Faith
We believe our one hope of restoration to God is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. This redemption from our sin can be received only through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. By God’s grace, we can be reborn into spiritual life, becoming an heir of God together with Christ and inheriting the hope of eternal life. This is a free gift of God.
John 3:3-8; Romans 3:21-26, 5:15-18, 8:16-17; Ephesians 2:4-9

The Ordinances of the Church
We believe that after a person is saved by faith, he is called to be baptized by water immersion as an act of celebration and obedience to publicly confirm his new identity in Christ. We believe that repentance from sin, rebirth in the Spirit, and baptism in water is an outward display of our inward faith and ushers us into a new identity as a member of the body of Christ.
Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38, 22:16

As believers, we are called to take the Lord’s Supper. By partaking of the bread and fruit of the vine together, we remember Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and proclaim his victory over death until He returns to rule. We invite all who profess faith in Jesus Christ to participate in communion with our church body and celebrate the new life we have in Christ.
Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

The Pursuit of Holy Living
Sanctification is progressively separating ourselves from our sinful nature and instead pursuing dedication to God. New believers and old should show growth toward spiritual maturity, striving toward a goal of holiness which can never be fully attained in this life. We believe in serving the Lord regardless of the sacrifice, discomfort, or inconvenience that may entail. We believe that giving our lives fully to Christ glorifies and honors the Lord and we will be most satisfied on Earth and in heaven when we act in obedience.
Philippians 3:7-16; 2 Timothy 1:8-12

As part of the pursuit of holiness, believers in Christ understand all human life to be sacred and created by God in His image from conception through natural death. We further believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.
Genesis 1:26-27, 5:1-2; Psalm 139:13-16

We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning in human relationship: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union as delineated in Scripture. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other.
Genesis 2:18-25; Romans 1:26-28; 1 Corinthians 6:18, 7:2-4

The Church and its Mission
We believe the church is the body of Christ here on Earth, working in unity to fulfill the Great Commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the body. We believe that the church is a group brought together by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus to fellowship, pray, serve, learn, teach, worship, evangelize, and encourage one another as we use our God-given gifts to further God’s kingdom on Earth.
1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Colossians 3:12-16; Hebrews 10:24-25

We believe that both genders have equally important ministry roles, yet the offices of overseers, elders, and deacons are solely reserved for men according to Paul’s teaching. We believe women are highly valued to minister, prophesy, pray and teach in many circumstances, but that the leadership roles of the church are set apart for males. This structure mirrors the leadership role of a husband in marriage and of Christ as a bridegroom and head of the church.
Colossians 1:18; 1 Timothy 3:1-12; Titus 1:5-9

We believe church gathering should center around worshiping God, sharing the good news of the Gospel, praying, and encouraging our brothers and sisters in Christ. We believe that we are called to unity under the Word of God and to biblical obedience that goes beyond our personal desires or worldly traditions. We are called to sacrifice and give our all to follow God’s call on our lives. We believe that serving others with our time, talents, resources and the spiritual gifts we have received are ways to live out God’s kingdom on Earth in our daily lives.
Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 12:4-8; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 4:1-16; Hebrews 12:23

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate spiritual encounter that is also encouraged for all believers, but distinct from repentance, salvation, or water baptism. Baptism of the Holy Spirit, as described in the early Christian church, gives believers an outpouring of spiritual power that is used to fulfill the Great Commission.
Matthew 3:11; Acts 1:5-8, 2:4, 19:5-6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-10

The Ministry of Prayer
We believe prayer is the lifeline by which Christians communicate directly and personally with our heavenly Father both individually and as a body of believers. In prayer and fasting, we express our praise and thankfulness, our needs for God’s provision, and our intercession for others including through the laying on of hands. In return we receive wisdom and blessing as our hearts become aligned with God’s will, enabling us to grow in faith and spiritual maturity. We believe God hears and answers prayers, moving in response to demolish strongholds of opposition and to bring about divine healing. Jesus himself modeled unceasing communion with the Father and taught His people to pray persistently, promising that the prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.
Mark 16:17-18; Luke 5:15-16, 9:1-6, 18:1; John 15:7; Acts 9:17; 2 Corinthians 10:4-5; Ephesians 6:17-18; Philippians 4:6; Hebrews 6:1-2; James 1:5-6, 5:13-16

The Return of Christ to Reign as King
We believe that Christ will return at the end of the church age in glorious physical appearance, which is the blessed hope of all believers. At that time, He will resurrect and gather His church, both the living and the dead, before pouring out His righteous wrath upon the world in judgment. Christ will then defeat the armies of Satan, rescue the remnant of Israel, and bring them into atonement and fellowship with Himself.
Isaiah 66:15-16,22-23; Zechariah 12:8-10; Matthew 24:30-31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13

In the resurrection of the faithful, whose names are found written in the Book of Life, we will be rewarded by eternal life with Christ in glorified immortal bodies. By contrast the ungodly, who died in disbelief and rebellion against God, will stand before Christ to be judged by their inadequate works, receiving the penalty of eternal punishment. Satan himself will be judged and cast into the lake of fire, along with the antichrist beast and false prophet.
Daniel 12:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:51-54; Revelation 19:20-20:3, 20:10-15

After all these things, God will destroy the former world and make all things new. As rightful heir to the throne of David, Christ will at that time fulfill His ancient promise that He will be their God and they will be His people. The saints will live with Christ in a dwelling place of righteousness, where He will reign forever and ever.
Isaiah 65:17-25; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1-6, 21:23-27, 22:3-5
